A Month in Nepal – Day 30

A place that sits in the middle of Kathmandu, yet is half a world away in so many ways is the Garden of Dreams.

Crated in the early 1920s by Field Marshal Kaiser Sumsher Rana.

After a period of neglect there were significant restoration works completed in the garden from 2000 until 2007 with the support of the Austrian government.

The Garden of Dreams is now a place where foreigners and locals alike share the space, and the social norms of the outside world are not adhered to.

Couples meet here and normally taboo displays of public affection are accepted here as being ‘just the way it is’.
